ICE RESCUE TRAINING: First responders from Stanton Fire and Rescue and Pilger spent the morning training with Pierce Fire and Rescue at Maskenthine Lake, along with Stanton County EMA. Today marked perfect training conditions because this is the weather where people mistakenly think it’s OK for one last day ice fishing. We stress - it is NOT safe. Researchers dropped a 9-inch ice core down a deep glacier hole in Antarctica and recorded a pretty bizarre sound. Some people say it sounds like a laser, others a cartoon shootout.
