Throughout its life, the 'Enterprise' worked as a cargo boat, floating store, fishing vessel, houseboat and showboat. Happy 145th Birthday to the Paddle Steamer ‘Enterprise’! 🎈 Launched in 1878 after being built in Echuca from red river gum, it’s one of the oldest working paddle steamers and the largest working object in our collection. The ‘Enterprise’ has had many lives as a cargo boat, floating store, fishing vessel, houseboat and showboat. Built in 1878 in Echuca, Victoria, the PS Enterprise is one of the oldest working paddle steamers in the world and is the largest functional object at the Museum.
